Topic: Get Engaged Workshop for Reluctant Players. This is designed for dogs that struggle with playing, whether shy, anxious, timid, disinterested, independent or confused by the whole idea. It can also be helpful for dogs that do not share toys with you once they get it.

*Not yet appropriate for resource guarding dogs that guard food or toys with you (fine if they guard from other animals- but not for dogs that would snap at you if you reach for a toy or food they have)

What to have ready:

• Your dog (if you have multiple dogs that might distract your reluctant player, can you put those dogs in another room?)

• High value treats

• A selection of pairs of toys such as: two balls, two tug toys, two little stuffy toys.

• Something your dog could put their mouth on that can hold food: Some ideas: small plastic container, a soft change purse or sunglasses holder, a travel toothbrush tube, toys with velcro pockets, an old sock.

• A bit of string or rope that is 4ft to 6ft long
